DNA Tests Confirm Only Four Biological Children of Kadongo Kamu Legend Paul Kafeero

KAMPALA – A 19-year-old dispute over the estate and biological children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Job Kafeero has finally been settled after DNA results confirmed that only four out of 25 individuals claiming to be his children are biologically related to him.

The results were officially released by the Uganda Police Forensic Directorate in collaboration with the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL) during an event held at Police Headquarters in Naguru.

The scientific findings ruled out 21 paternity claims, ending years of uncertainty surrounding Kafeero's lineage and inheritance.

The exercise was overseen by the Minister for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, who praised the forensic experts and scientists for their professionalism and commitment to resolving the long-standing family dispute.

"I extend my sincere appreciation to the Police forensic experts and the Government Analytical Laboratory team for their dedication, professionalism and tireless efforts in bringing closure to this 19-year family dispute," Balaam said.

According to Balaam, the DNA analysis was jointly conducted by the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory under ACP Andrew K. Mubiru and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory led by Kepher Kuchana Kateu.

The results establish that only four individuals share a biological relationship with the late musician, while the remaining 21 claimants were excluded through forensic DNA analysis.

Family members, clan leaders, the mothers of the claimants, relatives and members of the media attended the release of the results, marking what many described as the end of one of Uganda's longest-running family inheritance disputes.

Paul Kafeero, who died in 2007, is remembered as one of Uganda's greatest Kadongo Kamu musicians. His music continues to inspire generations, and the DNA findings are expected to provide legal clarity regarding his estate while bringing closure to a dispute that has overshadowed his legacy for nearly two decades.
